Honda Civic 2024

The icon of a small car, the Civic is the car most people think of when they think of affordable, practical everyday transportation, even more so than competitors like the Hyundai Elantra and Mazda3. Entry-level models come with a 158bhp 2.0-litre engine. liter four-cylinder engine, but a four-cylinder engine is also available. 1.5-liter turbocharged and hybrid powered with 180 hp.

A touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard across the range, and Honda has equipped every Civic with a host of driver-assistance features. Honda Civic 2024

What’s new in the 2024 Honda Civic:

A hybrid powertrain will be added to the Civic lineup starting with the 2024 model year. Honda says the Civic Hybrid will be available in sedan and hatchback versions, both using the Accord Hybrid's hybrid powertrain. That could mean a four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors with 180 to 200 horsepower.

The well-equipped EX sedan is the first choice because it has so many extra features that it's definitely worth the extra price. These amenities include blind-spot monitoring, a power sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated outside mirrors, and heated front seats. It also comes standard with a more powerful 180-horsepower four-cylinder turbo engine.

Engine, Transmission and Performance:

Although the Civic has been redesigned for the 2022 model year, powertrain options remain unchanged from the previous generation. The base model comes standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower, while the upgraded engine is still a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower.

The new Civic is only available as a front-wheel drive vehicle. Unfortunately, the manual transmission offered on the previous-generation Civic sedan has been shortened to 2022, with only a CVT gearbox available.

Hatchback models still come with a six-speed manual gearbox. At the car's test track, the turbocharged station wagon needed 7.5 seconds to hit 60 mph, which was slightly slower than the previous-generation Civic's time. The manual Sport Touring hatchback we tested fared slightly better, accelerating to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. Fortunately, the previous generation model's nimble handling, communicative steering, and balanced ride were highly appreciated.

Energy frugality

According to the EPA, the most energy-effective interpretation of the new Civic is the midrange Partner, which earns conditions of 33 mpg megacity, 42 mpg combined, and 36 mpg combined. Energy frugality estimates for the mongrel model aren't yet available. At 75 mph trace energy frugality, the 2022 Civic Sport Hatchback delivered 36 mpg.

Interior, comfort, and charging

The streamlined innards feature clean lines and a dashboard featuring a full-range honeycomb-pattern mesh design element that cleverly hides the air reflections. The wide center press looks less cluttered than former models and features a large, deep caddy in front of the shift switch for storing smart phones, keys, and snacks for road passages. Honda says passenger space is about the same, and the weight bay is more generous.

Infotainment and connectivity

The Civic comes standard with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display, but the larger 9-inch unit is voluntary, as is a 10.2-inch digital display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and offer wireless connectivity when paired with a larger screen. Other options include an in- gusto navigation system, a Bose stereo, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
